"Christians Under Attack in India"

A fact finding report titled, "Christians Under Attack" was released today at the Press Conference organized by Association for Protection of Civil Rights (APCR), United Christian Form, United Against Hate and Jaipur Catholic Diocese at St. Anselm's school, Malviyanagar Jaipur. Speaking on the attacks, Bishop Oswald Lewis said, "India is a country where every religion is respected and has been living together with peace and harmony since centuries. But in the last few years the minority groups have been targeted specially Christian and Muslim communities. It is being done by some fringe group to destabilize the unity of the country." He further said, "It is sad to see that a community that has been offering it's service to everyone in the country specially the poor and marginalised, has become the target. Such attacks are on increase. Besides, the inaction of the Government encourages such groups who go unpunished. Government must take stern actions against them to preserve the unity and democracy of the country."

On the occasion the other prominent persons present were: Fr. Edward Oliveira, the Vicar General of the Diocese, Fr. John Paul svd, the Media Incharge of the Diocese, Pastor Vijay Pal and Mr. Sawai Sing, the state President of Forum for Democracy and Communal Enmity.

Fr. Jackson Rodrigues and Fr. Vishal Madtha were ordained as priests for the diocese of Jaipur by Most Rev. Oswald Lewis

Fr. Jackson Rodrigues and Fr. Vishal Madtha were ordained as priests for the diocese of Jaipur by Most Rev. Oswald Lewis at 5.00 pm at Our Lady of Annnunciation cathedral, Malviya Nagar, Jaipur in the presence of 34 priests and a few religious sisters and laity. At this time of pandamic, the gathering was limited to few keeping the guidelines given by the administration.

In his homily, the prelate said, "It is challenging to offer one's whole like for for God and for the service of people. But it is time to become a real witness and to become a second Christ to the world." Both the new priests Fr. Jackson and Fr. Vishal have taken their motto as being called "to serve in humility."

While thanking everyone, Fr. Vishal said, "It is a blessing and privilege to work in Jaipur diocese under the leadership of Bp. Oswald Lewis." Fr. Jackson who is besides his theological studies, he is also a computer graphics man and other creative works. He said, "Inspite of having many weaknesses, he is grateful to call for calling me his great mission." Both the new priests hails from Mangalore, Karnataka. Fr. Vishal is appointed to work in St. Anselm school, Phulera, a city part of Jaipur diocese and Fr. Jackson will be working in the minor seminary, Jaipur. Including these two priests, the number of the diocesan priests rise upto 32.

21-09-2020: Bishop Inaugurates the New Youth Office for Diocese

Amidst the pandemic where things have been paused for an elongated time which was never expected by any of us, there has been a spark in each of our lives too. Although delayed, the Catholic Youth Forum’s Office inaugurated by Chairman Rev. Bishop Oswald Lewis was blessed on the evening of 20th September 2020. It is a ray of hope for all the young members of the Church that every calamity shall take its turn and overcome by the Faith we have in Christ. To join for the celebration along with the Bishop, Fr. Siju, (Director), Fr. Moorthi (Asst. Director), Sr. Archana CMC (Animator), Fr. Cyprian, Fr. Casmiro, Fr. Paul Dsouza, Fr. John Paul svd and few representatives from the youth were present to share this blessing. The simple celebration was ignited by the power of prayer and with the presence of all who could gather at the present moment. We pray and hope that this office might produce new ideas, dynamic activities and lead us to find ourselves as young men and women in Christ.

19-09-2020: Online workshop on creating theme based messages for social media

The media office of Jaipur diocese organized the first online workshop on the theme "Creating Theme Based Messages for Social Media". 46 people from all over India participated in the workshop. Fr. Babu Joseph svd and Fr. Anthonysamy svd from Satprakasan, Indore were the resource persons. Bp. Oswald Lewis from Jaipur addressed the participants and appreciated the efforts of Fr. John Paul svd, the organizer of this workshop who is the newly appointed director of media office, Jaipur.
